About Matt McArdle Photography

I am a landscape and outdoor sports photographer.  As an advocate of wilderness and conservation, I earned a B.S. degree in Natural Resource Management from the University of Maryland, after which I started moving West to pursue a career in outdoor education and my passions for photography and wild places.  When I'm not behind the lens, I can usually be found backpacking, trail running, climbing, mountain biking, skiing, or spending whatever time I can outside, trying to find my own piece of the wilderness.  I work as an instructor at the National Outdoor Leadership School, teaching leadership on backpacking, climbing and sea kayaking courses ranging from 7 days to 12 weeks.

My outdoor pursuits and desire to explore new places have led me all over the country and to distant parts of the world.  Seeing wild and beautiful places inspires my photography.  I hope that through my work you are able to see the beauty of wild areas and are inspired to explore on your own and help protect wild places.
